Have you ever considered what your image of you is? Sounds like a strange questions, doesn’t it, but take the time to ask the question now? Particularly, if you have an interview or assessment centre coming up – imagine you are there and think about what your image of you is?

The reason self-image is so important, or so the experts tell us, is that we will inevitably live into our self-image - that is, we become more and more like the person we think (or are afraid) we really are. So if someone believes or "sees themselves" as shy, they will tend to behave shyly; if they see themselves as confident, they will tend to behave in a more confident manner.

The good news is that you have total control over self-perception. So, to build a positive image of you at interview, choose to think about times when you were confident, articulate and communicated well.

As you do this, make sure you use your physiology to create a greater sense of confidence by standing or sitting up straight, shoulders back, and looking people straight in the eye. Change the pictures you have of yourselves in your mind. Run movies of your past successes and condition yourselves over the next few days to begin to see yourselves in a new light. If through doing this exercise you discover that you already have a strong, positive self image, congratulate yourself and use this to strengthen it.

Have fun!
